Kara’s career in design was an organic evolution from redecorating her own room as a child, assisting her father on home improvement projects, decorating her apartments and those of her friends, styling her husband’s real estate clients’ homes, and then assisting her husband in his real estate development projects, and the renovation of their home.

She combines an engineering mind with a creative soul. Kara’s approach to design is two-fold: first, her aim is to address any inefficiencies, whether via form or function. Second, she takes aim at the aesthetic aspect - what is the mood the client hopes to convey? What colors and textures will make the space feel like home? She then combines those elements to deliver a space that is both beautiful and functional.

She loves reimagining spaces and using her creativity to surmount common obstacles found in the design of older homes. Her aesthetic can be described as Neo-Traditional, or Modern Classic, however you want to coin the phrase. Her thoroughness is evidenced in the careful curation of every light, doorknob, moulding, tile, and fixture in a home.

Originally from Northern California, Kara brings a California feel to all her projects, whether by incorporating architecture, landscape elements, or even art.

She is the mother of 3 brilliant and rambunctious children, and one goofy terrier mutt.
